What you need:


- Power Plant and/or Chemical Processing Plant experience

- 5+ years PLC and DCS computer control systems experience; Allen Bradley, Modicon and or Siemens PLC's, Honeywell Experion and Emerson Delta V Systems, Wonder Ware, Intellution and Siemens HMI packages.

- Knowledge of SAMA, ISA, NEMA

- P&ID knowledge

- Experience with preparing engineering proposals

- Experience designing electrical control panels

- Professional Engineer License a plus

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering


What you'll be doing:


1. As the lead I&C/E engineer, manage the I&C/E department scope on proposals and projects using engineering principles and techniques, considering best engineering practices and cost implications.

2. Designs complex control systems for the monitoring and automation of the processes required for contract execution and issues complete analog and binary logic diagrams in the SAMA, ISA or NEMA format as well as written, detailed control descriptions clear enough to permit their configuration in DCS or PLC control hardware.

3. Interfaces with the Customer, Vendors, members of the project team, consultant engineers when required, through conferences, meetings, etc., to impart or receive information necessary to help to smoothly execute the project work. This interface will require a moderate amount of travel.

4. Generates Instrument Lists, Control Input/Output (I/O) Lists, Electrical Consumer Lists, Alarms and Setpoint Lists.

5. Originates, in a timely manner, engineering specifications, instrument data sheets and material requisitions completely and clearly enough for the Purchasing Department to issue the required purchase orders.

6. When required, leads and oversees the implementation of the control systems either on PLC or DCS hardware. Works with Vendors and Customers to define the proper control architecture. Places control equipment requisitions, ensures that the vendor work is properly scheduled and executed, reviews and approves the control system vendor documentation, attends and approves the control system Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and ensures the timely, properly manned and trouble free commissioning of the control system.

7. Travel to job sites as required in support of the Company's I&C and electrical construction, startup, commissioning and training activities as required by the project.

8. On inception of a contract or project, reviews all applicable documents including the Customer's specifications, BPI's proposal, vendor quotations, etc., for correct technical content and compliance with the project specifications.

9. Develops the list of I&C/E tasks to be included in the project schedule. Reviews the schedule and comments on its feasibility to the Department and Project Managers. Once the schedule is approved, performs all tasks in the time allotted and brings up any schedule conflicts to the Department Manager for resolution in a timely manner.

10. Supports the Process Engineer in the generation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) ensuring that the instrumentation is complete and in accordance with the project specifications and technical requirements.

11. Designs or supervises the design of electrical control panels, as required. This includes selection of panel components, production of dimensional drawings, elementary wiring schematics, field wiring diagrams, requisitioning of panel manufacturing and supervision of shop panel checkout.

12. Supports the Auxiliaries Department and others in the Company in the specification and procurement of equipment containing electrical or control components. Reviews and approves all electrical and control designs of the Company's sub-vendors when required by the project.

13. Actively participate in the preparation of Company's proposals by evaluating the Customer's specifications, providing I&C/E comments, exceptions or clarifications to the specifications, preparing I&C/E materials and manpower estimates and advising the proposal engineer on the adequacy of the proposal technical solutions on the I&C and electrical areas.

14. Continuously seeks to increase his/her knowledge on the technical aspects of the Company's or its vendors' supplied equipment and products, their operation and their control requirements to be able to support engineering decisions as required.

15. Participates in the generation of engineering standards and procedures by issuing in the I&C/E standard format any calculations, designs, procedures, drawings, etc., which could be used again in other projects.
