1. Are you a First Time Home Buyer?
2. Have you purchased a home previously but have sold it and haven’t owned a primary residence for 3 years?
3. Do you make less than $75,000 a year as a single person or $150,000 as a married couple?
4. Can you buy a home before November 30, 2009?
If you can answer YES to three of these questions you may be eligible to receive an $8,000 tax credit from the IRS.
It’s not a tax deduction. It’s a dollar for dollar tax credit. This means at the end of this tax year the IRS starts out owing you $8,000 and will deduct what you own them when you file your taxes and send you a check for the cash difference. If you owe them $500 they will send you check for $7500. If you owe them 0 they will send you a check for $8,000.
