The University of La Verne invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Music, serving as the Director of Choral Activities, this full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor begins July 1, 2010 (or Fall 2010). The University of La Verne Music Department embraces the enormous diversity of musical expressions from people of all backgrounds, ages, and experience. Our primary goals are to help students build a strong musical foundation, and to develop personally as musicians and contributing members of society. The music department is comprised of three full-time positions, an artist-in-resident, and twelve adjunct faculty members.


We are seeking a dynamic individual who is eager to build a choral program. While a completed DMA in choral conducting is preferred, successful equivalent experience will be considered. Teaching experience is desirable.


Responsibilities include conducting the two choral ensembles, University Chorale and Chamber Singers. Additional teaching responsibilities (choral conducting, Music Theater, and/or private lessons) are a part of the teaching load. Recruiting students and participating fully in the College of Arts and Sciences is expected. The University is interested in program expansion and experience in building a strong choral program is desired. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience, and departmental equity.
