**UPDATE** Even more good news! My employer offered to pay for Cindy and Bella's shots if we can get a good family to take them home! Shots AND dog training for two very lovable companions!
**Sheila Murray, a WONDERFUL dog trainer, just offered HALF PRICE training sessions to the family(s) that adopt them. She helped me personally train my dogs (and train me) and I can't say enough good things about her training methods. Her website is http://www.venturacountydogtraining.com/ **
My company bought a foreclosed home and there were two dogs, a Chihuahua and a Cocker Spaniel, that were abandoned at the house by the previous owners. We've been trying to find a new home for them, but are running out of time before I have to take them to a shelter in the hopes that they can get adopted there. I did manage to call off the Animal Control pick-up that was scheduled because I found out that abandoned dogs have only 5 days before they are put to sleep. If I can't find a foster or permanent home by Saturday morning, I did find a no kill shelter in Canoga Park that will put them in their adoption program. But I would much rather find them a home so they don't have to go through the unnerving experience of being at a kennel. If you are interested in fostering or adopting these dogs, please call Tracey at 805-620-2927.
I was able to go over to feed them, give them water, take pictures and interact with the dogs to get a better idea of their personalities. While I was there, the former owners came to get some of their belongings, so I was able to get some more information about the dogs. The dog's owners did try to find a home for them and did try to find an apartment that allowed pets without any luck, and would love to find a new home for them.
Both dogs are very sweet and are clearly well socialized around people. Bella is a female, Cocker Spaniel (?) mix that is approximately 1 to 1 1/2 years old. She is full of youthful energy and loves to play and run around. She seems very eager to please and even sat without asking when I fed her. She may have had shots when she was a puppy but has not had them since. The other dog is Cindy (short for Cinderella) a female Chihuahua that is approximately 3 years old. She is Bella's surrogate mom, and is very sweet and calm. I picked her up and she seemed very comfortable being held. I was told that these two dogs are very close, and Bella can't stand to be separated from Cindy, so it would be wonderful if these dogs could go to the same home. They both need shots and need to be spayed
Please call ASAP if interested in helping rescue them. I would foster them, but my home circumstances won't allow for it, so I'm just trying to find a home for them this way. If an individual wants to adopt them (not an adoption organization), we are asking for a $30 adoption fee per dog to make sure they go to a home that is sincere about keeping them. Thanks!
