Description

We have a 3 1/2 yr. old, black lab shepherd mix we adopted from a shelter in Jan. 2008. Several months after we had him home, he was diagnosed with EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency). The cost of his enzymes is $83.00 per 12 oz. jar. We cannot keep up with this. He also has bad behavior issues even though he has a certificate of training for 3 months. He is not a good fit for our household and the stress of it all is too much. He is sweet, loving, playful, and gets along with people and other dogs. However, is also takes food, gets into waste baskets, jumps on adults and children, and has an overall obnoxious personality. Not to be funny, but I'm wondering if he has a disconnect in his brain. I know this is not a glowing ad in his favor, but I have to be completely honest so whoever may take him know exactly what they are getting. I've been taking him to dog adoptions almost every weekend for the past 4 1/2 months to no avail. This dog, whose name is Kane, really needs a ranch to play on, and someone who can afford his medicine. Our home is not ideal for a dog like this. This is an urgent situation. I've loved and cared for him for over a year and a half now. When his condition caused him to drop to a scary 64 lbs. from 92 lbs., I nursed him back to a healthy weight of 96 1/2 lbs! This has been an extremely stressful journey. Now, sadly, if I can't find him the proper environment to be taken care of, the unthinkable may happen. For me to even consider that option is completely out of character for me. Anyone out there who can help or knows someone who can and will? I will be beyond grateful. Sincerely, Jennifer Durant
