Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for a Junior Engineer (Telecommunications) on a contract job opportunity with a leading educational institution in West Los Angeles.


The Junior Engineer supports the reliable provision of round-the-clock operation of the voice, data, wireless, 800 Mhz, and cable television communications infrastructure. The incumbent participates in the maintenance of environmental conditions and provision of access, for selected campus Communications (Comm.) Rooms. In addition, the incumbent establishes and maintains network communications to selected equipment for the remote monitoring of environmental conditions and access. The incumbent purchases equipment for environmental management, and schedules and monitors its' installation and maintenance.


Coordinates construction and/or repair of Communication Rooms. Updates all appropriate ISO, equipment warranty, and Room & Equipment Database documentation, regarding work activity. Communicate significant work activity plans, and schedules, to campus building coordinators. Participate in rotating coverage of on-call environmental alarm response and escalation, ensuring timely problem resolution and communication with appropriate staff.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Functional knowledge of basic HVAC, AC power and UPS operations. Basic knowledge of end to end performance issues and considerations of Transmission Control Protocols/Internet Protocols (TCP/IP), Multiple Access Algorithms, Schemes and Protocols and the 7-layer protocol interface standards of communications networks. Knowledge of Integrated System Management (ISM) that employs monitoring and control mechanisms to manage communications and sensor networked systems. Ability to program, configure, and network the various brands and models of Puss, environmental monitoring devices, and surveillance cameras used to remotely monitor selected communications rooms. Basic functional knowledge of the range of telecommunications voice, video and data equipment and services installed/utilized within the user community.
