attention cival war collectors, this steinway was sold to george frederick root of root and cady music chicago ill on nov 21 1861. in 1862 he composed the song"the battle cry of freedom."just hours after lincolns call to arms there is info on line if you look up his name . i had steinway trace the ser# and confirm authenticity.also this steinway was made in the first year of production of pianos in the upright form in their new york factory. they were very surprised that this piano still exists and turned up in canada and has a very important place in cival war history.the only known george root artifacts exist in the chicago museum and consists of some of george frederick roots sheet music. the piano is all original finish brazilian rosewood and real ivories plays beautifully one of a kind located in ontario canada . email for more info peterhaines@sympatico.ca
