Date Listed: May-12-08 VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: What you are looking at here is an original unrestored, unmolested, 35 year old 1973 Plymouth 340 Duster. It is a matching numbers with original paint and has the Twister Package. Except for the wheels, tires and CD stereo system, this car is exactly as when it rolled off the St. Louis assembly line. This 340 Duster has remained factory original ever since the inspectors signed off on it at the St. Louis Missouri Chrysler Plant. This was the last year of Chrysler’s high impact colors and Lemon Twist (FY1) was a very popular muscle color in the early 70’s. This 340 Duster is equipped with a 3 speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, inside hood release, map light and AC. This 340 Duster is a perfect restoration project for the Mopar fanatic that wants an unmolested, matching numbers 340 Duster to restore. This 340 Duster has 75,700 original miles will easily drive another 30K as is, with regular maintenance. BODY CONDITION: The body on this car is straight and “RUST FREE”. This car has been kept garaged in Southern California for 35 years. There has been NO body damage to this car other than what you would expect of a car with 34 years of use. Normal dings and scratches are evident and insignificant. The only ignificant ding is on the driver’s side quarter panel. Looks like a small dent was repaired 10 years ago or longer. The paint color match that may have been near perfect at the time of repair has faded slightly different than the original paint. The exterior trim molding is missing in this repaired area. ENGINE & DRIVE TRAIN: The 340 matching numbers engine (E55) is equipped with a factory 4 bbl Thermoquad carburetor. The engine has never been rebuilt and still runs like a top. The TorqueFlite transmission (D34) shifts quietly and freely through all 3 gears. The rear end is an 8 1/4 sure grip axle. Equipped with new 2.5” aluminized dual exhaust system with 2 chamber Flow Master mufflers, cross over and chrome tips. INTERIOR: The factory original interior of this 340 Duster looks virtually brand new. Center console with bucket seats (C16) and automatic shifter are in excellent condition, as well as the dash and dash pad. Rear seat is the optional fold- down type (C73) and is in like new condition. Headliner is a factory original complete with factory shoulder belts and the original clips that hold them in place. To sum it up, the interior is just about perfect. The only items that are missing are the original AC/Heater control knobs. The factory original radio has been replaced with a detachable faceplate Alpine stereo and 4 speakers. TRUNK: The trunk compartment is complete and correct with the original carpet, bumper jack and UNUSED Goodyear polyglas spare tire (white print still on tread). The trunk floor pans are flawless and NO RUST can be found. The rear fold-down seat panel with lock downs is in excellent condition. Trunk light is still functional. AFTER MARKET EQUIPMENT: Tires are 14” BF Goodrich (front) and 15” BF Goodrich (rear). Wheels are Centerlines. Stereo is an Alpine model CDA-7875, XM radio ready, 60 watt x 4 channel, pre-amp with CD changer, detachable faceplate with remote control. Speakers are JL Audio / TR Evolution (2) 6x9 in rear and (2) 6” rounds in door panel. Wheels, tires and sound system are valued at $2000. THE BOTTOM LINE: Here is the real deal "MOPAR FANS"!!! I know that is is hard to believe that a car like this exist, but it does and you are looking at it. It may be, in fact, be the cleanest original unrestored 1973 Duster on the planet. If you live 10 life times I would vensure to say that you would have a hard time finding a more perfect 1973 Duster. So, If you are looking for an extremely clean original unrestored, unmolested, matching numbers 340 Duster to restore or to keep as-is, this is the car to purchase. This 340 Duster has only 75,500 original miles and has been garaged and babied its entire life. This 340 Duster was owned, for nearly 30 years, by an elderly women from Downy, CA. This car "DRIVES UNBELIEVABLY" and is in one of the cleanest original unrestored Duster that you will ever see advertised anywhere. The 340 Dusters are just starting to rise in popularity and prices. This 340 Duster will definitely increase in value.
