Term: One semester



Following trainings and briefings, the Director-in-Residence is required to live in housing leaed by Azusa Pacific University in Oxford, England from July/August through mid December OR Late December/January through mid-May. (Final specific dates will be negotiated with the CGLE)




Salary:



According to standard rank and step. Regular APU benefits continue during this appointment. Health coverage may be modified to meet overseas requirements.


Travel Costs: Airfare for director, spouse and dependents

Lodging: Azusa Pacific University provides a furnished flat within a 20-miunte walk to Oxford Centre City. Two bicycles provided. Professional & Administrative budget provided




Responsibilities



Duties:



Travel to Oxford in the semester prior to service to attend briefing and meetings with OPUS (the academic provider) and then-current APU director-in-residence.

When possible, meet and become acquainted with APU Oxford students prior to their departure.

Attend OPUS provided orientation for students and provide an additional half-day of orientation for students on relevant aspects of British culture and the Oxford essay.

Teach/facilitate the "Faith & Learning Colloquium" each week during the 15-week semester, integrating the ethos and Christian faith represented by Azusa Pacific University.

Teach 3-unit seminar or lecture course for which you are qualified during the Oxford University term.

Assist the Oxford Programme for Undergraduate Studies (OPUS) in moderating lectures and resolving academic, housing, and other student concerns.

Provide opportunities for spiritual, scholarly, and social interaction with the students in the program. Participate in other student group activities as possible when invited.

Collaborate with OPUS, the APU Oxford students, and the APU Center for Global Learning & Engagement for continuous program assessment and improvement.

Provide monthly program and financial reporting to the CGLE.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the executive director, CGLE.






Qualifications



Applicants should possess a terminal degree in a relevant academic field. Knowledge of US higher education system and a detailed understanding of Azusa Pacific University academic programs and requirements, including at least three years experience teaching at Azusa Pacific University. Knowledge of US university administrative and/or student affairs experience also required. Strong organizational management and communication skills. Desire to mentor American university students and to help them integrate the Oxford experience with their academic and career plans. In agreement with the mission and purpose of Azusa Pacific University. Experience working, studying, or teaching in the United Kingdom and familiarity with the Oxford University system is preferred. Full professor status preferred.
